This proposal focuses on Hollywood's production codes, either enforced of "voluntary". It examines their roles in shaping contemporary Hollywood cinema and the resulting social taboos that are revealed.

Prof. Tom Pollard

Tom Pollard's academic work has focused on film books and articles about current and past movements in film (A World in Chaos: Social Crisis and the Rise of Postmodern Cinema, Rowman and Littlefield, 2003; The Hollywood War Machine, 2005. He is the author of numerous papers on film topics in academic journals. In addition, he serves as a writer and researcher for historical documentaries.
