Drawing on data from 22 classes in English as a Foreign Language, taught through the medium of English using task-oriented methodology, the workshop presenter will engage participants in a series of tasks. These are designed around discoveries the presenter has made about the way teachers both structure learning and create positive affect in their classes. It is anticipated that implications concerning hybridity in the genres of 'lesson', 'lecture', and 'seminar' in the British context, and its relevance to students from elsewhere, will be discussed at the workshop.
