This study is the result of a year and half of field research in a high school and junior high school in Nampa, Idaho, U.S.A. The primary qualitative methods involved the interviewing of teachers and students as observing in classrooms. The findings confirm critical theory since Mexican American students were victims of intense institutionalized racism that resulted in a 41% drop out rate for Hispanic students while those that remained in school were marginalized. A series of recommendations are reviewed as to best practices in how to reduce the pushing-out of minority students.

He has also had two post-doctorial fellowships to study social theory from the National Endowment for the Humanities. His area of specialization is ethnic studies. He has published two books on Mexican Americans in Idaho.
